(Luk 10:17) And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
(Luk 10:18) And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
(Luk 10:19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Delegated authority
The church has God given authority in the earth to:
a) Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mk. 16:15)
That is the church’s mandate to preach the gospel in all the world. We are as it were colonists sent from the Kingdom of Heaven to colonise earth so that people on earth may experience Heaven on earth. Just as Dutch colonists came to South Africa and brought with them the Dutch way of life to indigenous South Africans. The indigenous people have been living as their colonial masters ever since.
Before His ascension, the Lord Jesus taught His disciples to ‘occupy earth until His second coming’ (Luke 19:13). By that He meant that the church should have dominion over all the earth. In other words, He (Jesus) was saying ‘have rulership over all the earth until I come.’
Scripture says, ‘we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and made kings and priests unto God to rule and reign in the earth.’ (Rev. 5:9-10)
The Lord taught us to pray saying. ‘Let your kingdom come on earth as in heaven.’ (Matt. 6:10)
The church therefore is mandated by God to take over the earth for God. And God has empowered us for the task. (Acts 1:8)
(Act 1:8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
b) To cast out devils in my name shall (Mar 16:17)
The church has authority in the earth to cast out devils in Jesus name.
The highest spiritual authority in the earth is not ‘the prince of the power of the air’ or Satan but the church. Listen to the words of the Lord Jesus, (Luk 10:19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(Matt. 16:18)… upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
nd hear the testimony of the Lord’s disciples: ‘Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.’ (Luke 10:17)
The followers of Jesus cast out devils in Jesus name and demons left or obeyed them. To such an extent that the followers of Jesus rejoiced, (they came back with joy’ vs 17a) when they noticed that demons obeyed their instructions.
You and I can have the same results as the early church.
(Act 16:16) And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
(Act 16:17) The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
(Act 16:18) And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
c) They shall speak with new tongues (Mark 16:17)
New tongues or other tongues is a new prayer language given to all that believe so that they can be empowered to do the work of God and pray more effectively.
(1Co 14:2) For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Mysteries of God and of this life are communicated and released when Christians pray in tongues.
God has given this invaluable prayer language to the church, so the church can be most effective and lethal in prayer and warfare.
The bible says:
(Eph 6:18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(Jud 1:20) But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
(Rom 8:26) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
(Rom 8:27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(1Co 2:9) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
(1Co 2:10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
(1Co 2:11) For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
(1Co 2:12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
So then, there are things that are freely given to us of God. But we will never know them until we take time to pray to God in other tongues and in the process mysteries are released and made known to us. And then we begin to pray the will of God because His thoughts and plans will have been made know to us.
When God’s will be revealed as we pray in tongues then we know and have the mind of God. And when we pray the mind of God our effectiveness in prayer is multiplied immeasurably. (1Co 2:16) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
d) Lay hands on the sick, and see the sick recover (Mark 16:18)
Many people are sick today with all kind of diseases of which many are incurable. However, the Bible says there is a solution to sickness and disease and infirmity. The solution is the church laying hands on the sick and praying the prayer of faith and the sick getting healed. That is good news.
(Jas 5:14) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
(Jas 5:15) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
A lesson from Peter and John at the beautiful gate of the temple.
(Act 3:1) Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
(Act 3:2) And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
(Act 3:3) Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
(Act 3:4) And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
(Act 3:5) And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
(Act 3:6) Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
(Act 3:7) And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
(Act 3:8) And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
(Act 3:9) And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
(Act 3:10) And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
As we pray Thursday and Friday let us remember what our mandate is. The world is waiting, and the church is sleeping and, yet we have all this authority given to us.
Paul said to Timothy, (2Ti 1:6) Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
When we pray and fast we begin to stir the gifts of God that are resident in us. That is the reason the Holy Spirit has specifically called us as a ministry to get into a season of prayer. That will prepare us for the work of God that He has for us.
The above four points are what we are praying for Thursday and Friday.
Read through this article again and again and meditate on the scriptures.
Pray in the Holy Ghost and allow the Spirit of God to flow in you and through you, releasing mysteries to you and me.
Write down whatever the Spirit reveals to you.
I thank you for taking time to read and fast and pray for God’s will to be manifested at AFM Sandton.
Blessings.
